All Advanced Standing students must complete a Student Portfolio (Curriculum Vitae), which summarizes the learning acquired from academic, personal, and professional experiences. All students must complete the portfolio regardless of the number of transfer credits they have accumulated before enrolling at WGI. The portfolio’s primary purpose is to provide a means by which students may petition for accumulative Life Learning Experience (LLE) credits applicable to their degree program.

All degrees offered at WGI are earned and completed by doing mandatory coursework.

Our courses will be available for you to take once you meet our entrance requirements. The courses require extensive study and self-discipline, as our College and Seminary is an accelerated, distance-learning institution with no physical campus. All coursework and degrees are earned by correspondence, whether through distance learning or online.

This acceptance of life credits helps potential students accelerate their learning experiences, thus allowing them to earn a fully accredited degree. However, no diploma or degree can be awarded based purely on life experience. Life experience credit cannot be given for an entire degree but is limited to 30 credit hours. Furthermore, applicants must have at least 10 years of experience in a recognized position in ministry.

• Ministries within a Church
• Mission Trips
• Outreach Ministries

These experiences must be documented, including the years they happened, and submitted for evaluation.

Our Programs of Study are structured in an innovative format known as “Accelerated Degree Programs,” meaning the programs differ from the traditional ones. We operate year-round on a trimester system. During each trimester (summer, fall, and spring), undergraduate students complete four- to six-week courses, while graduate students complete eight-week courses (see next item for individual Program of Study).

Independent and online studies are taken individually in the comfort of your home. The courses are offered as three- or six-credit courses you can apply to an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree. Courses are administered through a course syllabus, textbook(s), and handouts, all geared toward helping the students prepare for their assignments. Exams or college-level papers are also required for most courses.

Students in church groups are assigned Mobile Unit Coordinators once they enroll. Coordinators will communicate with students regularly and maintain the one-on-one assistance necessary for distance learning. They will be available to help students with any questions regarding homework assignments, issues, policies, and instructions. Inquiries concerning academics are taken to the Student Coordinators.

Mobile Unit Coordinator group study is an innovation to our distance education programs, responding to the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). Our coordinators are tasked with facilitating local church groups or community centers. The coordinator is essentially a small college in the local church.

Courses are offered for credit in a group setting or may be taken individually in the comfort of your home.

All degree requirements (Programs of Study) are to be completed within the timeframe of the student’s enrollment as a degree-seeking student. Extensions are not automatic; they are given only with the Institute’s enrollment committee’s approval of a written request. Missionaries may request a total of two consecutive furloughs to complete coursework.

Coursework that is more than three years old at the time of initial enrollment or re-enrollment, if the student has not been continuously enrolled, may not be used toward meeting degree requirements. Requests for exemptions may be submitted in writing to the Institute’s Enrollment Dean/Vice President, and approval may require validation of the coursework.

• Graduate: Master’s & Doctorate Degrees – 6 Hours
• Diploma Program – 6 Hours (Only for WGI Students)

• 36 Credits = Diploma
• 60 Credits = Associate’s Degree
• 120 Credits = Bachelor’s Degree
• 156 Credits = Master’s Degree
• 210 Credits = Doctoral Degree
